Description:
As a key member of the Systems Engineering team, the candidate will help ensure the server environments are designed to support development, productivity, scalability, operational excellence and business-technology alignment for the Sony Media Software and Services clients. This position will be focused in three main areas: platforms, services and new business initiatives.
This position will provide the vision, leadership and guidance to define the architectural roadmap for Sony Media Software and Services server and storage environments. It reports to the Director of Systems Engineering and is a key member of the Systems Engineering Team.

Responsibilities:
* Analyze business requirements to determine system design, potential issues, and related cost for each project.
* Develop any existing and future architectures with security, availability, stability, and scalability of systems.
* Produce design documents to effectively hand over system architecture to other operations departments for successful systems implementation.
* Work with internal and external engineers and architects to prevent or solve difficult functional and performance issues.
* Interact with internal and external technical leaders to develop innovative solutions that meet business needs with respect to availability, functionality, performance, scalability, security, and reliability with realistic implementation schedules and adherence to architectural goals and principles.
* Contribute to the selection, prototyping, and implementation of hardware, operating systems, applications, and technical solutions to business problems.
* Develop systems and tools to manage large server farms in multiple geographic locations to increase Systems Engineering team efficiency.
Job Requirements:
* 12+ years of professional related experience.
* Strong leadership and ability to command respect at all levels of the organization.
* Ability to quickly learn existing complex systems infrastructure.
* Demonstrable analytical and problem solving skills, particularly as it relates to systems design.
* Experience in developing enterprise processes to promote efficiency.
* Ability to influence, train, mentor and leverage the skills of others, including business partners and technical team.
* Excellent communication and relationship skills.
* Expertise in the following technologies:
o Linux and Windows Server operating systems
o Apache, Tomcat, Oracle, caching farms, PHP, and other web services
o NAS/SAN environments and protocols (NFS, CIFS, iSCSI, FC)
o Clustering and other high availability strategies
o TCP/IP and load balancing methods
o Web service applications (J2EE, C/C++, PHP, etc) design and implementation
o Messaging and Queuing
o Utility scripting (e.g. awk, sed, perl, bourne)
o Multi-client web hosting design
o Chassis/Blade based infrastructures
* Experience with high volume, PCI compliant web systems or large transaction client-server systems.
* Ability to thrive in a high-pressured but highly structured, customer-oriented environment.
* Ability to contribute to multiple projects/demands simultaneously.
* Experience interacting with vendors.
Education:
* Degree in CS, EE or equivalent experience required.
