Senior Tax Accountant

Our direct client located in Morris County, NJ is currently seeking a Senior Tax Accountant.

Our client is a very recognized name in the retail industry is currently seeking a Federal and State income Tax Accountant

This opportunity will report directly to the Manager of Tax. There will be no direct reports to this position at this time.

To be consider for this opportunity candidate must possess
~Six to Nine years of overall Tax experience
~Recent hands on experience in Preparation and Research. of Federal and State Income Tax
~CPA or Masters Degree in Tax is Preferred


Responsibilities
In this role one will have the following responsibilities:
Account for income taxes in accordance with FAS 109, including quarterly and annual provisions, year end deferred income tax roll forwards, and drafting of the tax footnotes for public filings    
Maintain and test controls for year end SOX obligations.
Assist in performing research of all income tax issues with respect to their impact on company operations. This includes identifying tax savings and tax efficiency opportunities, as well as analysis of new laws to determine if any changes are required in the compliance or accounting processes.
Additional responsibilities include supporting income tax audits of the company, specifically providing analysis and documentation to the auditor, as well as highlighting potential issues to management of the company. Corrective measures for any deficiencies will be recommended.


Qualifications
Qualified candidates will have a Bachelors degree in Accounting/Finance or related field and a minimum of 6 to 8 years of corporate federal and state income tax experience.
A MST and CPA is preferred. Excellent verbal and written communication skills coupled with strong research, analytical and problem solving skills are required.
Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team setting and a self-starter attitude is preferred.
Must be proficient in Microsoft Office; strong knowledge of tax and accounting software preferred.
