POSITION SUMMARY
Lead efforts to facilitate fair and appropriate use of Advanced Placement (AP) at colleges and universities, focusing on development of services and tools that will position AP more effectively to support the needs of higher education institutions for a credit/placement exam.
RESPONSIBILITIES
* Develop and enact strategies designed to facilitate data-driven and fair use of AP results in academic placement decisions, work closely with academic departments to identify the differential value propositions AP affords a variety of institutions, departments, and disciplines. Identify misperceptions in academic departments and enact plans to correct misunderstandings of the relationship between an AP credit policy and departmental enrollments / selection of majors.
* Convene and direct meetings of special interest groups such as the AP Higher Ed Advisory Committee. Identify ways for institutions to tailor AP policies to support their individual missions and goals, creating profiles of the ways different credit policies provide different types of benefits to different types of institutions.
* Develop strategies to facilitate advocacy of AP. Raise awareness among higher education constituents of the relationship between AP and college success.
* Develop strategies designed to facilitate data-driven and fair use of AP in admission offices, identifying operational needs of admissions offices, and changes needed to current grade reporting processes.
* Serve as the primary liaison between the AP Program and CB staff responsible for relationships with Higher Ed institutions. Develop and manage processes for identifying, conveying and resolving the AP-related needs/concerns of Higher Ed constituents. Conduct regular training sessions on AP for Higher Ed staff
* Help develop and implement new resources and strategic approaches that integrate AP services and needs within outreach plans to higher education accounts.
* Help identify research needed by Higher Ed to support their use of AP, participate in the design, implementation and reporting of such research results to stakeholders and other constituents.
* Supervise the ongoing collection, analysis and distribution of AP credit policy information,
* Lead the annual development and management cycle of the AP Course Audit, accountable for on-time, on-budget management of a large-scale annual sequence of communications, systems changes, trainings, and customer service protocols to ensure successful, accurate authorization and renewal of 140,000 AP teachers each year. Supervise staff responsible for day-to-day management of the AP Course Audit,
* Lead the annual development and dissemination of the AP Report to the Nation, leading the project team to produce the data, analyze the data, create the messages, produce the report, train RAS and GR staff on the report and outreach to state officials, prepare the press conference, and then respond to media inquiries.
* Serve on the AP Leadership Team, cross-updating to ensure alignment across several dozen work streams in motion across AP senior staff members' teams.
* Perform a variety of PM tasks related to the AP Program
: Contribute to overall strategic planning; conduct background research to determine feasibility; develop budgets and evaluate projected costs against anticipated revenues; establish timelines and delegate work assignments; supervise staff; evaluate program status; coordinate program components with other departments; prepare status reports and recommend adjustments in budgets and program policies; prepare reports and recommend adjustments; assess program success and feasibility for continued operation and write reports for the senior management team.
* Administer, coordinate and perform various AP Program outreach activities
: represent the AP Program at national and international conferences; meet with outside groups to provide information and obtain feedback about CB/AP programs or services; act as an internal consultant to CB staff; recommend changes in programs or services; and establish strategies to promote CB/AP programs or services.
* Prepare internal plans and reports, varied correspondence or reports for external/internal review. Write various promotional/marketing materials.
QUALIFICATIONS
Masters or PhD degree required. 7-10 years of progressively responsible work experience in a professional position in higher education admissions, policy, or research. Project management and supervisory experience required. Work experience relevant to higher education services is required.
