Research Associate I (Compound Management)Vertex Pharmaceuticals Incorporated is a global biotechnology company committed to the discovery and development of breakthrough small molecule drugs for serious diseases.

Vertex's product pipeline is focused on viral diseases, cystic fibrosis, inflammation, autoimmune diseases, cancer, and pain.

Vertex co-discovered the HIV protease inhibitor, Lexiva, with GlaxoSmithKline.

In this role, the successful candidate will be responsible for the fulfillment of dry and solution-based compound sample requests for customers at Vertexs four research sites as directed by the supervisor.

The Compound Management group is highly automated and this role will require routine operation of cutting-edge laboratory robotics, while interfacing with web-based software tools.

The Research Associate will also be responsible for processingnew samples into the archive inventory and will be responsible for accurate sample weighing and dissolution.

In addition, this role will maintain supplies of consumables and coordinate the shipment of orders with the logistics department.

Minimum Requirements Bachelor's degree in a Life Science andbe looking to get started in an industry laboratory setting working with cutting-edge automation equipment is preferred.

AA or AS or equivalent scientific/technical experience above high-school level is required.

Familiarity with laboratory automation and previous experience working with Velocity 11robotics is highly desirable.

The successful candidate will be a self-motivated, detail oriented individual able to multitask and follow directions.

Requires strong organization, communication and interpersonal skills, with an emphasis on customer service.

Must be flexible and responsive to changing priorities.

The ability to effectively meet deadlines while working under pressure is mandatory, as is the capacity to work both independently and in a team environment.

Must have a high aptitude for common computer programs (Excel and Word), in addition to being comfortable in learning new software and hardware systems.
