Nortel Government Solutions has an immediate opening for a Network Security Engineer located at Scott AFB, IL.
The candidate will be a member of a 4-6 person team providing technical consultation to large Air Force Local Area Networks (LAN) ranging from 1,500 - 30,000 clients. Specific tasks will include: network performance optimization and reporting, network troubleshooting, security enhancement, regulatory compliance assessment and reporting, providing feedback to improve Air Force-wide processes and configurations, and mentoring of technical personnel at the Air Force installations via technical interchange and training sessions. Approximately 25-30% travel is required to Air Force base locations as well as up to 8 weeks in Southwest Asia. Candidate must be able to obtain a DOD security clearance.
Requirements
Minimum Education/Experience: Bachelors degree or equivalent and 7+ years of experience is required.
Qualifications:
Cisco Certified Security Professional (CCSP) or Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer + Security (MCSE + Security) or Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP): Enterprise Administrator and Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS): Microsoft Internet Security Accelerator ***Required within 6 months of hire***
CompTIA Security+ or Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) ***Required within 6 months of hire***
Solid working knowledge of TCP/IP networking as well as ports and protocols
Ability to analyze, configure and maintain security components within a complex Local Area Network (LAN)
Experience with configuring, securing, and troubleshooting Cisco PIX firewalls, Secure Computing Sidewinder 5.x, G2 6.x firewalls, 7.x and possess a clear understanding of Access Control Lists (ACLs)
Familiar with Cisco Adaptive Security Appliances (ASA), Cisco VPN 3000 Series Concentrators, Network Authentication Servers, UNIX operating systems, and Blue Coat Proxy and Blue Coat Antivirus appliances
Solid working knowledge and clear understanding of DNS/BIND, Sendmail and general mail processing, routing concepts (Including OSPF, EIGRP, Multicast), and router Access Control Lists
Experience with Antivirus/Antispam products such as Symantec System Center, Symantec Mail Security for SMTP, Symantec Brightmail, Symantec Antivirus clients, McAfee Antivirus clients and Secure Computing IronMail
Experience with Network Intrusion Detection Systems (NIDS) and Host-Based Intrusion Detection Systems (HIDS) products such as MacAfee Host Based Security System (HBSS)
Experience with network vulnerability scanners such as eEye Retina, Nmap and McAfee vulnerability scanners
Additional Skills:
Experience in DoD Network Control Centers or Network Operations and Security Centers
Experience with scripting including languages such as Perl, VB, and .NET
Operational experience with wireless security and war driving techniques
Ability to translate security policies and procedures into technical architectures and/or configuration settings
Strong organizational, problem-solving, written and communication skills
Ability to quickly learn new technologies and concepts and apply that knowledge effectively
Ability to work both independently and with a team to accomplish multiple tasks and projects
Ability to create technical documentation and network diagrams as deliverables to customers in a timely manner
Working knowledge of MS Office and MS Visio
Security Clearance: U.S. Citizenship and the ability to obtain an Interim Secret - and ultimately the final Clearance is required. An active Secret is highly desired.
