Mgr II Systems Engineering - Human Factors

Job Description:

Lead a growing team of 12-15 human factors engineers as the human factors engineering section manager for Human Factors Engineering (HFE) and Human Systems Integration (HSI) at the Surveillance and Sensors Center (SSC) in Sudbury, MA. Manage a diverse team of engineers supporting multiple programs across the Northeast. Responsibilities include leadership of the team, administration, career development, and HFE/HSI technical consultation for Section members. The section manager supports day-to-day tactical execution to enable successful integrated process team leads as well as organizational long-term strategic planning and related activities. In addition to providing technical and managerial leadership, individual will be called upon to provide Subject Matter Expertise in the area of Human Factors Engineering for Directorate, IDS level and possibly Enterprise level projects

Required Skills:

Knowledge of HSI domains and impact of design criteria on system design, particularly as it relates to human engineering.

Extensive knowledge of military systems and human factors design procedures and standards including MIL-STD-1472 and MIL-HDBK-46855.

Ability to effectively motivate, evaluate and lead diverse team of engineers supporting numerous products in several Northeast locations.

Demonstrated ability to plan, implement, document, and present the results of technical system HFE design assessments.

Ability to represent HFE position on multidisciplinary design teams and effectively advocate end user position with military hardware and software engineering design teams, program management, and customer representatives.

Excellent organizational, verbal, writing, public speaking, and interpersonal skills.

Section Manager Responsibilities include:

· Allocation of required contract work efforts across Section personnel – matching program requirements to Section personnel skill sets.

· Providing meaningful work assignments and allocations to Section members.

· On-time approval of accurate weekly timecards.

· Solicitation and collation of feedback from task leaders to generate and deliver annual Performance and Development Summaries for Section members.

· Lead the documentation of annual goals and accomplishments for Section members.

· Managing & reviewi program performance through Earned Value Management techniques

· Active participation in Department and Directorate management team communication meetings.

· Lead the development and maintenance of career development and training plans for each individual Section member.

· Act as an employee advocate for Section members.

· Respond to requests from upper management.

· Mentoring of professional and technical growth of Section members.

· Recruiting of qualified new employees as needed.

· Support, contribute to and champion Corporate Vision, Values, Mission and Goals.

· Act as an active agent of change for Raytheon 6 Sigma.

· Take ownership of management decisions.

· Approval of all Proposal Technical inputs and Costing Estimates compiled within the Section.

· Approval of all technical work outputs, plans, reports, schedules.

Basic Qualifications Skills:

Minimum eight years human factors hardware engineering experience.

Minimum five years software/HCI/HMI experience.

Secret clearance required or ability to obtain one.

Desired Skills:

Desired Qualifications Skills:

PhD in human factors engineering or related scientific/technical discipline(s).

Board Certified Ergonomist or HFE Professional

Experience with and understanding of Raytheon/Engineering processes and organization.

Proposal/marketing experience

Knowledge of solid modeling tools (e.g., Jack, Catia, ProE, SolidWorks)

Former active duty or reserve military experience

Required Education(including Major):

MS/MA in human factors engineering or related scientific/technical discipline(s).
