Description Kohler CompanyTitle: Materials ManagerLocation: Union City, TNProvide leadership to the plant level materials group at the Union City,
Shower Door facility. Provide leadership at the Union City Facility for the Material and Distribution functions. Align the plant level materials organizations functions with the output of the Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) process, New Product Development (NPD) process, and the Purchasing Function to ensure consistent reliable flow of raw and WIP inventory to support the finished goods production schedules. Manage and execute the production schedule, new product introductions and supplier requirement communications with plant level materials managers. To coordinate, schedule and successfully lead associates assigned in the attainment of safety, production, quality and delivery goals.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES 1.
Directly supervises associates in the performance of their duties as they relate to Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Morale.
2. Implements a process that effectively supports the production plan provided by the fulfillment team organization.
3. Provide expertise in the development of short and long term production plans that recognize changes in the output of the Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) PROCESS, production capacity, flexibility limitations, financial considerations, materials availability and customer service levels.
4. Develops goals and objectives for the plant level materials group that are quantifiable and measurable. Drive accountability through the performance evaluation system.
5. Develop measures and control methods for raw and work in process inventory and other plant level material management objectives strategies, projects and action plans in order to achieve PA Fixtures profitability , growth and cost goals (e.g. inventory adjustments).
6. Develop, communicate and execute PA Fixtures material control improvement initiatives through education and guidance. Overall effort should result in improved supply capacity through the creation of more flexible/lean materials practices both internal and external to Kohler Company.
7. Overall accountability for raw and work in process inventory.
8. Work closely with manufacturing teams to develop and monitor metrics for gauging overall plant effectiveness (e.g. lead-time accuracy, inventory turns, days of supply, production adherence).
9. Work with the leadership in Product Availability/Fulfillment Teams and Supply Teams to develop strategies for constantly improving customer service by translating and communicating supply requirements.
10. Champion the alignment of plant production to drive accuracy and flexibility. Strive to achieve "On Target, On Time, Every Time!"
11. Identify critical positions within the plant operations materials functions and establish strategies to develop a strong talent pipeline within the function. Participate in the hiring, coaching, counseling, and development of talent within the operations group. Provide administrative management and performance management to plant manager.
12. Coordinate communication of master production schedules and assist in driving requirements to the supply base. Responsible for plant / supplier input in all production planning meetings.
13. Create, implement and control processes designed to ensure standardized consistent communication between the NPD Teams , purchasing, fulfillment teams, and manufacturing to ensure all release for shipment requirements are met to include inventory builds.
14. Develop or identify appropriate training for plant level personnel, as required on systems changes, strategic initiatives, and day to day materials functions. This would include SAP Supply Planning implementation activities, cycle counting, supplier relations and forecast communication, etc.
15. Develop and execute oversight for the communication of significant demand increases or decreases to ensure supply base responsiveness. Create agile reaction plans, in partnership with purchasing, when demand outstrips supply.
16. Coordinate planning for contingency activities with manufacturing to ensure uninterrupted customer service levels.
17. Drive improvements that materially effect customer service levels and support conversion to available to promise (ATP) methods while improving total inventory turns.
