Purpose: Responsible for inspections and evaluations of product test samples to measure product stability, as well as recording, summarizing and reporting test data.



Scope: Under close supervision of senior lab personnel, perform routine testing on all products with stability concerns from prototype formulas to production samples. Begin building a knowledge base of acceptable vs. unacceptable stability behavior. Record, summarize and report final test data in both hardcopy and electronic forms. In addition, notifies supervisor of possible issues as soon as they occur. Great emphasis placed on sensory evaluation abilities and organizational skills. Participate in lab projects and interact with vendors on test results as vendors perform stability testing for Beauty Avenues



Parameters:

\' Responsible for sensory and instrumental physical testing of test samples and early warning of questionable results, as well as summarizing and reporting of final results. (Partner with our vendors on their stability test results and issue their test results to our project sponsors)

\' Develops a working knowledge of standard procedures and instrumental equipment utilized in the stability lab.

\' Develops a comprehensive knowledge of company product types and their expected stability behavior.

\' Through routine testing of stability samples, develops a working knowledge of scientific theories behind stability testing procedures.



Accountabilities: Reports to Supervisor-Stability Testing. May require some interfacing with Innovations, R&D, Quality Assurance, Package Development and vendors.



Desired Outcomes: Under close supervision, become proficient in performing the standard procedures involved with the daily routine in the stability lab, which includes active sample retention, testing, recording and maintaining data in hardcopy and electronic formats, reporting of questionable results, and summarizing and reporting of final results. Interact with vendors on their stability tests that they perform for Beauty Avenues. Collect, collate, and distribute, the data from vendors. Interact with internal partners, i.e. R&D, customers PD teams.





RESPONSIBLITIES:



\' Daily maintenance of active test samples, including the retrieval from and the return to the proper stability chambers and their corresponding locations.

\' With supervision at predetermined time intervals, inspect test samples for formula stability in glass and package components (color, odor, appearance, and instrumental physical properties such as pH, viscosity, cloud point, etc.).

\' Record and maintain records and reports (both hardcopy and electronic) of test results from both internal bA\'s stability lab and external results from our vendors. Notifies senior stability personnel of any questionable results, and enters issue reports in database for review and distribution by supervisor.

\' Prepares samples for outside laboratory testing and internal sensory and performance testing.

\' With direct supervision, prepares summaries of physical data and issues final reports on completed physical stability tests.

\' With supervision, assist in the preparation and placement of new stability tests.

\' With direct supervision, participate in special and non-routine investigations and scientific studies as requested.

\' Maintain equipment and work areas in safe, clean and organized condition.

\' With direct supervision calibrate equipment as required.

\' Excellent sensory evaluation skills essential, especially in the areas of color and fragrance.

\' Minimum of two (2) years work experience where accuracy and attention to detail are preferred.

\' Basic knowledge of PC data entry, word processing and spreadsheet required (experience with Access preferred).

\' Good organizational skills required to keep track of numerous test variables.

\' Excellent record keeping and meticulous test results recording essential



EDUCATION:



Minimum three (3) years\' college level study in a technical discipline, minimum one (1) year college level chemistry; 4 year science degree preferred.
