Overview
The Chief Financial Officer is the principal financial and accounting manager of the organization (Non-Profit Organization). Reporting to the Executive Director, he/she is responsible for all aspects of the financial management, including budgeting, capital planning, cash management, preparation of tax filings, reimbursements from New York State and the federal government, and overall monitoring and reporting on the organization’s financial position and cash flow. The CFO will also participate in strategic planning and high-level decision-making.
In an increasingly complex business enterprise, the CFO takes financial management responsibility over other subsidiaries as well.
Responsibilities
· Direct day-to-day accounting and finance activities, including establishing appropriate policies and procedures that optimize cost-effective performance and achieve maximum operating efficiencies.
· Provide support to the Executive Director, Board of Directors, and senior staff on all matters pertaining to finance and operations.
· Design and disseminate regular and timely reports that allow the appropriate parties to understand and manage their activities and responsibilities.
· See that financial resources such as endowment, cash and debt are properly managed and administered.
· Oversee the annual budget process by coordinating with the Executive Director, senior managers, department heads, economics group, and the Board Executive Committee, and monitor and report on the budget regularly throughout the year.
· Lead efficient budget forecasting and financial modeling for long-range planning.
· Hire, mentor, and retain a knowledgeable and hard-working staff.
· Work cooperatively with outside auditors in preparing tax filings and in conducting annual audits and implementing recommended improvements to procedures and controls.
Qualifications:
- BS/BA in accounting or finance; MBA highly preferred.
- Prior experience as a senior financial administrator, prior CFO, controller or Finance Director.
- Non-profit experience preferred but not mandatory, will look at financial professionals from other business sectors.

Compensation:
base salary commensurate with experience; excellent benefits and pension plan.
